For over 50 years the Macquarie Anaesthetic Group has provided high quality anaesthetic services to patients all across Sydney. All of our anaesthetists are Fellows of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and are highly experienced in their field. Our anaesthetists cover all surgical specialities including cardiothoracic, neuro, paediatric, obstetric and ophthalmic surgery. The majority of our members hold VMO positions at major public teaching hospitals across Sydney in addition to their private practice.

I was one of the early leaders in the use of local anaesthesia for Cataract Surgery, and this continues to be one of my main areas of anaesthetic practice.

I am fortunate to work with a range of fantastic surgeons and their various specialities. My extensive training and now varied practice keeps me utilising a full range of anaesthetic skills and techniques which gives me the confidence that I can deliver the most modern, comprehensive and the best possible care for all my patients and their surgeries.
My main area of clinical interest and expertise is in Regional Anaesthesia or Nerve Blocks, and I regularly teach and lecture at national conferences on these topics. At RPA I lead clinical innovation and research in regional anaesthesia. I am also on the Executive Committee of the Australasian Regional Anaesthesia Special Interest Group. I have also had experience on committees with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in particular as an organiser of our national scientific meeting in Singapore 2014 and Sydney 2018.

I have been a consultant anaesthetist since 2011 after finishing my training primarily at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. I also undertook a further year of specialty training, primarily in the use of ultrasound to block nerves for surgery and pain relief, at a prominent hospital in Toronto, Canada. A few interesting things I've also done over the years include work as a Fellow on the Careflight and Ambulance Helicopters and work at rural hospitals such as Orange and Wagga (where I grew up).

This includes the medical management of cardiopulmonary bypass for cardiac surgery and also management of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation(ECMO). Spent two and a half years working in London from 1987 and acquired a Diploma of Anaesthetics in 1998.
